Superman re-arranging Butch's car from the re-issued Superman #1 in 1979. This drawing was also used as the front cover for Action Comics #1.
Seeing the potential of Superman, Harry Donenfeld ordered the newspaper strip repasted into comic-page format. To conserve space in what was to be called Action Comic #1 the first week of the newspaper strip was left out but some background information on Superman was included on the first page.

Action Comics issue 1 is now estimated to be worth around 113,500.00 (US$170,000.00) for a near mint condition copy and there are probably no more than 100 copies still in existance.

Superman 1 was issued in the summer of 1939 and contained the first Superman strip in it's entirity and opened with these words:

Just before the doomed planet Krypton exploded to fragments, a scientist placed his infant son within an experimental rocket-ship, launching it toward earth!

Superman 1 in near mint condition is worth 80,000.00 (US$120,000.00) today.
