All we really know about Spike is that Craig Booty had them all, until an argument with his mum about tiding up his precious comics under his bed, resulted in them all being burned. This is for you Craig.

Like D C Thomson's other boys comic of the '80's, BUDDY, SPIKE featured some revivals of old characters amongst its contents. Of particular interest is the strip "The Man In Black", about a super-athlete who was later revealed to be William Wilson; an old character from the Thomson story-papers of the thirties and THE HORNET comic of the sixties. (His special diet of natural herbs kept him youthful!). - Lew Stringer

The first four issues came with a free gift, I think No1 came with a super glider,No.2 Tattoos or stickers, No.3 Skull Badge & No.4 was a mystery gift. A few of the characters were Iron Barr (Always on the front page), He was a scrapmetal dealer who was also a brilliant amateur goalkeeper. He played for Darbury Rangers. Their was Starhawk, The Bleak street gang, Ticker tate (a secret agent with a bomb in his heart, i think) & also a comic & letters page of Spike himself (Spikey hair believe it or not). Spike ran for 67 issues & merged with Champ. Iron Barr joined United, Spike went into the Champ comic section & one of the Bleak street gang joined the Kingsway Kids strip in Champ. I still got all the issues in my loft somewhere.
