I'm a fan of Judy which you feature in your library. Judy was my favourite comic and there is one character you have not included on this page. She was a character featured reularly in the early days of Judy, often on the front page. Her name was Sandra Wilson and she started out as a pupil of a ballet school on a secret island. She had lots of adventures finding princesses in hiding, saving her ballet teacher from ritual sacrifice, before graduating to become the star of the Edmund Lawrence Ballet Company. The good thing about her was she was a good role model as she was brave and resourceful. She was phased out by the end of the 60s. The drawings for this strip which were brilliant were usually done by the artist who drew General Jumbo in the Dandy - don't know his name.

I've just seen your image of Sandra - I preferred her when she was Sandra of the Secret Ballet though. Her teacher's name was Nina Sierra and there was also a spooky guy called Boris Rothbart who hypnotised the dancers. Her friend was called Rose. I'm not really obsessive... - Joan Ormrod

When I was at school, in Dundee, the head of our Classics department was Albert A'Hara. When we left school, in 1969, my boyfriend and I stayed friends and visited him and his wife. It turned out that she worked for D C Thompson in Dundee, before having her baby and she used to be the writer of Sandra's stories - not the artist, I hasten to add. She was showing me her scrap book and photo albums and I asked why she had a clip of "Sandra". That was the reason. If Sandra was phased out at the end of the 60s, then this would coincide with the time that I met her and she was having a baby. - Elizabeth

I don't know where you are located, but I thought I might be the only girl who read 'Judy' who lived in the U.S. I lived in the farm region of Illinois, south of Chicago, and I got my Judy magazines from an English pen friend. She used to bundle up several months of her issues and wrap them in brown paper and string and send them by boat. They took weeks to arrive and when they came to my small country post office it was indeed a red letter day for me. I loved them and would sort them into the right order and read and read and read. I loved all the stories and there was just nothing like them in the states. - Sharon Williams

My Mother-in-law “Beverley Jones” was an up & coming singer from Coventry & featured in an edition of Judy in August 1964 in a 2 page spread.

I was wondering whether anyone knew of the copy & if possible where I could obtain a copy? - Nigel Wood
