This one certainly didn't win a prize for the longest running comic, but the cover wins an award in my book.
Fury joined with Mighty World of Marvel in August 1977.

Fury number 1 is in the Bibliography.

Did you know that Fury No.1's cover is by Dave Gibbons, and the second issue's cover by Carlos Ezquerra (visual creator of Judge Dredd)? - Lew Stringer

Fury was all reprints from Marvel US titles such as 'Nick Fury's Howlin' Commando's (Hence the name Fury?) It was obviously Marvel UK's attempt at a 'Warlord' or 'Battle' but they could only muster new artwork on the cover (which is the best thing about it!). As I have worked at Marvel UK, I understand the pressure to re-use the abundance of US material available for next to nothing (duping the film and shipping costs), and it is an admirable attempt at passing off reprint artwork at British kids who would probably never see such comics anyway, but it does lack that certain something that makes homegrown British comics so good.
