Chicks' Own joined Playhour on 16th March 1957. It had previously joined with "Bo Peep" in 1934, "Happy Days" in 1939 and "Bubbles" in 1941.

In 1956 it became an all picture comic.

For some rea-son ev-ery word with more than one syll-able was split by a hy-phen. Most probably because it was aimed at a very young reader.

I received Chick's Own in the 1940s. I recall the yellow and black chicks, Tommy the toy soldier, Golli (think he was a bad guy) and rides on those ponies at the sea side. Also those litle sea creatures. - Terence Lee
